Our Story

FYBA is a specialist recruitment consultancy operating across the Built Environment, supporting clients in Infrastructure, Energy, Digital Infrastructure and Real Estate.

We launched FYBA with a clear goal: to raise the standard of recruitment. Too often, the industry overpromises and underdelivers. We set out to change that by building a consultancy that’s honest, people-focused and built on trust.

Our team combines deep technical knowledge with genuine care for the people we work with. We’re hands-on, highly trained and driven by doing things properly. No shortcuts, no empty promises, just reliable delivery and lasting partnerships.

This straightforward approach has helped FYBA become a trusted partner to clients and candidates alike, recognised for authenticity, quality and a genuine desire to do recruitment the right way.

Joe Yates
Operations Director

I started my recruitment career in 2010 and have worked across UK Infrastructure, Construction and International Maritime, giving me broad experience in technical recruitment both in the UK and overseas. I became a Fellow of the REC in 2021 and have always been driven by a simple goal: make recruitment better. I’m passionate about delivering a straightforward, high-quality service that genuinely supports clients and candidates.

Outside of work I’m a proud father to a beautiful girl and boy, and devoted husband. When I have enough energy in between running around after 2 kids and a dog, I love to play squash, cricket, and the odd bike ride. I’m also learning to play golf, unsuccessfully!

Focus at Fyba:

I oversee the operational running of the business, ensuring our consultants are supported, our clients are looked after, and our service consistently delivers. My recruitment focus includes senior and C-suite assignments, along with Planning, Commercial and Project Management roles across the UK and overseas. I have experience delivering Contract, Permanent, Retained and Exclusive projects, as well as bespoke consultancy work for clients who need a more strategic approach.

Nathan Stonelake

I began my recruitment career in 2012 and have built a strong track record across infrastructure, telecoms and data centres. My experience spans both white and grey collar talent, and I’ve supported a wide range of professionals throughout their careers. I’m genuinely passionate about what I do and enjoy building relationships that feel trusted, personable and professional. Whether you’re exploring a new role or expanding your team, I aim to be the person you can rely on.

In my personal time, and alongside being a key figure within my family, I am a keen golfer, fitness enthusiast and football supporter. I enjoy cooking and have an eye for fashion, although some may disagree!

Focus at Fyba:

I oversee business development, delivery and fulfilment across our data centre customers, with a clear focus on project delivery, design and commissioning while ensuring a consistent and high-quality service.

Luke Kelsey
Water Director

Having Graduated with a Sports Science Degree from Southampton University in 2008, I started my career in Recruitment in the Summer of 2011 as a Consultant within the Water Industry. I have remained in this sector for my entire tenure, and it is probably acceptable to self-proclaim that I am highly knowledgeable about all things AMP related! Within the workspace, I am passionate about creating a High Performing Culture in tandem with servicing our Clients and Candidates to the best of our abilities.

In my personal time, I am very keen on Sports and attempt to get to the gym 3 or 4 time. If it’s a WFH day, then you can usually find me doing a Joe Wicks HIIT in my lunch hour! I am a big fan of all things related to Boxing and am also a long-suffering supporter of Southampton FC having held a Season ticket for the last 9 years.

Focus at Fyba:

I head up the Water Division where we support our clients with multi-disciplinary permanent & contract recruitment through 360 project lifecycles. We can provide White Collar, Blue Collar and Permanent services dependent on our customer’s needs.

I started working in Recruitment in May 2017, as an associate consultant in the Water Industry, specialising in MEP. I therefore know the sector really well and have a number of established relationships within the market. For me the most important thing is integrity and professional reputation, I pride myself on honesty and transparency when speaking with both clients and candidates.

Outside of work I like to keep active, spending my winters playing hockey and my summer playing cricket. I’m always keen to give back in some way and I currently coach a kids football team alongside cricket in the summer.

Focus at Fyba:

As a Senior Consultant in the Water team, I support clients within Design & Build to source high quality MEP talent for Water projects. I help fulfill both contractor and permanent requirements across the UK.

I’ve been working in agency recruitment since 2019, with a focus on various sectors within engineering, particularly in infrastructure and energy. This experience has given me a solid understanding of technical recruitment, especially within the permanent white-collar market.

I’m excited about my career at Fyba, as it’s offering me great long-term prospects, particularly as I focus on the 180-degree recruitment path for my personal and professional development within the company.

Outside of work, I keep busy with a variety of sports. I play golf (averagely), am an avid Liverpool fan, and enjoy staying fit through the gym and running. I also love travelling and have recently had the opportunity to explore Southeast Asia and the USA on some memorable trips.

Focus at Fyba:
I primarily focus on delivery for several of our major accounts within the Infrastructure and Energy sectors. Skill set focus is predominantly project delivery professionals such as Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Planners & Design Engineers.

I started my recruitment career back in January 2019, where I joined a fast passed blue collar desk within the Water industry. Over the next 3.5 years I gained valuable experience dealing with both candidates and clients in a challenging market.

Joining the recruitment world at 19 years old I never knew what I was stepping into, now almost 5 years on I can safely say it was the best decision I could have made. I have a strong passion to go above and beyond for not only our clients but our candidates as well.

Outside of work I’m a keen footballer and I like to spend most weekends either playing or watching the football (Normally with a beer in hand). I enjoy spending time with friends and family and can be very easily persuaded into a Nando’s or two…

Focus at Fyba:

As an experience Consultant I specialise in supporting Clients and Candidates in finding the best talent and opportunities to match their skills. Sector focus; Water Industry Design & Construction – M&E, Process and Civils.

Jake Travis
Consultant

I spent 6 years working as a sports therapist until June 2023 for Havant and Waterlooville FC alongside other various roles at the NHS, and Havant and South Downs College. Although I enjoyed my time as a sports therapist, I decided I needed a career change and to be in an industry that could match my ambition and felt I had a lot of transferrable skills to head into a career in Recruitment.

After speaking to the guys at FYBA, I saw the vision and enthusiasm within the team, and it was something I immediately wanted to be a part of. The long team goals are endless, and I am excited to see where this opportunity takes me.

I spend my free time socialising and watching my favourite sports; football, golf and American football.

Focus at Fyba:
As a recruitment consultant I partner with clients predominantly across the Water & Utilities sectors as well as the wider Infrastructure space. My area of expertise is project delivery and design professionals such as; Project Managers, Commercial, Design Engineering, CAD and support roles.
